The light of the moon; what is it about this heavenly body that draws us to its beauty? Is it the surface? Or how pale the light shines so gallantly like a beautifully polished pearl?

To all, the moon is the most lovely sight the nighttime has to offer, but to me, it's a curse. Whenever I see it, pain grips my body like a vice and I'm paralyzed in place unable to escape its fate.

I looked at my calendar in panic to see if tonight was the night of the full moon, and sure enough, I approached the window to see that a large black cloud enveloped the orb making sure that my it never happens.

Unfortunately, my joy is short lived as I feel a sharp, burning pain inside my body like someone was pouring hot acid into my bloodstream. The cloud dissapated letting the light of the moon pour into my window triggering the curse. I fell onto my knees holding my stomach screaming bloody murder as the cramps got from bad to worse.

I slowly got up, but when I looked at my hands, my heart skipped a beat; they were covered by dark black scales that crept up toward my arms. I tried to hold myself up so I wouldn't fall over, shaking violently.

I heard my bones crack and snap into place while my vertebrae rose up stretching outwards toward my coccyx bursting out as a huge tail.

"Ugh, I can't take it!" I cried, "It's too much." I was breathing hard as my chest began to grow outwards accomodating my new frame. As I continued to look, I saw that my nails grew out into ugly long, claws causing a deep gash in the wood floor in my room while the pain became more unbearable.

My muscles were next as they began to swell up more in size but I felt like great immense strength was flooding all over me, but the pain of the transformation was getting even more worse.

The scales continued to expand toward every square inch of my body covering my once fair peachy skin to a dark black making me almost unrecognizable. I squinted my eyes from the pain as tears fell from them but suddenly, the pain subsided and I opened my eyes again but I could see a lot more better than I could ever see.

A sharp pain gripped my legs as the bones in them began to break apart then formed into a digitgrade pushing outwards. My toes grew thicker then ripped apart my gym shoes and melded from five to three with the same black talons growing out.

I panted in exertion wondering when the next transformation would happen. I felt a sharp type of pressure in my shoulderblades as two huge bumps form through my scales making me scream out in absolute pain.

An immense pain sidetracked my thoughts as sharp, white spikes grew through my scalp down towards my back and near my tailbone.

Just then, two huge wings burst from the area while two white woven membranes formed through the fingers. I managed to prop my body up while trying not to show the pain on my face.

Feebly, I crawled toward the mirror to check out what the status is with my body, but just as I reached it, I didn't see my human face anymore. But those of a horrendous beast! Even worse, my dark green eyes had become yellow in color with lizard like slits in the middle.

I screamed in pain as I felt a horrible pinch like someone was taking my teeth and pulling them out with a red hot poker. When I opened my mouth, the canines grew outward as sharp, deadly fangs took their place.

My nose began to shrink into my skull but not before the nostrils were the only things left on my face as I was breathing hard making the holes flare in and out.

"Aaargh, my head!" I exclaimed. Feels like someone's pounding nails into it so I put my hands on my head trying to block the pain, but then, I saw my strawberry blonde hair falling out into huge clumps onto the floor.

It was then two huge curliecued horns grew out from where my hair used to be on and grew outwards. I looked in the mirror and saw that my ears are starting to point upwards into points, afterwards, it stopped then split into webbing being woven into the fins as the other did the same.

I took deep breaths as each transformation was happening all at once my body shaking violently. I felt an enormous pain radiating from my neck making cracking noises while stretching up telling myself, "It'll stop.....it'll stop...." My face felt like someone was pulling it like a taffy pull.

The last step was also a last shred of my humanity; I felt something hard like armor making its way from my throat down toward my belly and down toward my tail. After the pain was over, I panted hard and when I looked in the mirror, I saw that I was no longer human, but more beast than man. I clawed the floor in anger tears streaming in my eyes and with a shout, I bellowed out a roar that could be heard for miles.

As I said, 'The moon can draw those with its beauty or like myself, brings out the beast in some people.' Unfortunately, the moon already revived my beastly behaviour, but would you believe me? Or would you be like the others and don't believe me?

Come to think of it, my piece 'Starfire', could very well be the polar opposite of this: pleasure vs. pain, wisdom vs. instability (in the sense that the curse destroys human mentality), tenderness vs. brutality, etc.

I only just thought about it.
