The Rise Of The Werebat

On a rainy, Monday night, a lone scientist is working inside of the lab creating a serum that could transform a human into a creature. Finally,at 1am in the morning, the serum was done, but he needed a test subject to make sure that it worked.

The scientist put down the beaker and walked over to a small machine that had a huge, red button at the top. He pressed it and a voice rang out, "Is there anything you need,Dr. Radcliff?" He replied, "Yes, I need a test subject for a little experiment. Send in Experiment #4508 please?"

As soon as Dr. Radcliff walked back to his beaker, a huge metallic door opens up with two male scientists coming inside. They also had a small child in the middle of them holding her by the arms so she didn't escape.

They "adopted" the young child from the streets promising her a home and food, only to be stuck inside a small cell like a trapped animal. The child was about five or six years old with bright green eyes, dark brown hair, lightly colored skin with freckles all on her face and shoulders, and wore a tattered pink dress.

After entering the lab, the two men laid the child down on the cold, metal operating table. They strapped her around her waist and her feet, then they shackled her tiny hands to either side so she wouldn't try to fight them.

"We're ready for the serum, Dr. Radcliff," one of the scientists replied. "But are you sure that we need a child for this? Shouldn't we need a full-grown adult?" Dr. Radcliff just shook his head and grabbed an empty syringe from one of the shelves along with a cotton swab and alcohol.

He approached the young child and told her, "Don't fret my dear. This'll only sting just for a moment, okay?" The child's eyes were widened with fear as she saw the syringe in the doctor's hands and struggled to escape,but to no avail.

He removed the cap from the needle of the syringe, submerged the needle in the pink colored serum, pulled up the plunger and filled up the syringe with it.

Dr. Radcliff picked up the cotton swab and used the alcohol to wet it. Afterwards, he swabbed the bend of the little girls' arm and then inserted the needle into it and injected the serum into her bloodstream. The little girl screamed in pain as she felt the pain of the needle in her skin.

It was then that Dr. Radcliff removed the needle and grabbed the supplies. Suddenly, the girl started to scream out in agony and thrashed against the restraints as her fingers extended on both of her hands. Her ears pointed up towards her head, then her toenails became long and sharp as they pushed outwards from her feet.

The balls of her feet stretched out like those of an animal's.

The scientists looked on as they saw the girl transforming, but one had a worried look on his face. It didn't stop there; the girl's face pushed out into a snout while her nose reshaped like those of a bat's.

The fingers started to form a pink membrane around them turning them into wings. Dr. Radcliff looked expectantly on the young girl's transformation with glee and said, "The serum is working perfectly!" While he looked at her, the girl's teeth grew out into huge sharp fangs.

Her eyes started to shift slightly to the side of her face. Brown fur started to grow over her skin and spread all over. Her muscles also started to grow bigger in her arms, legs, and chest shredding the tattered dress into pieces, then ripping the restraints off and shattered the shackles on her hands while she shrieked in agony. After the transformation was over, the girl was no longer human, but a bat-like creature.

Dr. Radcliff approached her and asked, "How do you feel, little one?" The girl looked at him and had an angry look in her eyes then ran at him. With one swift movement of her wing, she knocked the doctor down onto the ground while she slashed at him fiercely.

Doctor Radcliff shouted for the assistant scientists to help him. They ran at her, but as soon as she heard them, the girl sent a horrible shriek to disable them and to slow them down. Luckily for her, they stopped in their tracks and they covered their ears to stop the noise.

The girl looked around for an exit so she ran out of the door through the deserted hallway trying to find an exit door. Meanwhile, back in the lab, all three scientists got up and looked around for their experiment, but no luck.

Quick as a flash, Dr. Radcliff ran towards the table and pushed the red button and called out, "Attention! Attention! There is a runaway experiment on the loose, please capture it at all costs!"

The girl ran in confusion trying to find an exit so she could escape, but couldn't find one. It was then that two armed guards aimed their weapons at the young girl. She stepped back then ran the other way causing them to start shooting at her.

The guards kept shooting as the girl started to run for her life desperately trying to escape this place. Just as she lost all hope, the girl saw an open window and a perfect opportunity to escape, but the problem is how?

She then looked at her wings and then spread them out as to test them out. She flapped them until her feet hovered from the ground then flapped harder and harder until she achieved lift-off and flew towards the open window towards freedom. The girl couldn't believe it; she was flying and she was finally free to live her life as a werebat!
